You may have heard the term 'Web 2.0' - what does it mean?
Web 2.0 is the idea of embracing the internet as an interactive, inter-connected, easy-to-use global network of people and businesses. The following trends and concepts are pieces of the many items that make up Web 2.0:
- Social networking - websites such as Facebook, Linked In, Wikipedia and more allow users to contribute, review, comment and more while providing information. Social networking sites that include links back to your website are valuable sources of incoming links for search engine optimization.
- Clean design – less has become better in website designs. Minimalist, crisp designs with easy-to-read text have made a come-back, while heavy animation has become less popular. Shiny, reflective surfaces are common in the design and logos of web 2.0, such as those shown at right.
- Dynamic content – websites have become living documents. Through the use of content management systems, businesses and organizations are updating their websites constantly. RSS feeds are another tool that provides real-time news and articles, and interaction with social networking and informational sites provides a rich user experience.
