Need help answering some Social Networking questions? Here are the 3 most common questions we receive related to Social Networking.
What information should I post to these sites?
We believe in making the most out of any content you have in any marketing materials. Whether it is website copy, brochure text or content from an ad campaign, stretch it a little further by adding it to your social networking efforts. A great example is updated content on your website. Once you’ve updated a page on your site, be it your portfolio, list of services or even the about us section, add at least a short summary of that to your social networking sites. You never know where your customers will come from so make sure you are spreading that content around to multiple sources.
How much time should I spend on this in addition to my other marketing efforts?
We see social networking as a complement to your existing marketing materials. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other sites shouldn’t replace your brochures, website or other marketing collateral, but they can be great additions to those pieces. Take the time to stay current on these sites and reach out to those targets who are more likely to find your business via your social networking sites. We recommend having at least 1 update per week and not exceeding 3-5 total on each network.
Do I need to staff someone to handle this effort?
By participating in social networking as a company, you are basically adding another “to-do” for your marketing team. Whether that is a team of 5 people or if it is 1 person who has marketing as one part of their job description, this is an additional task. The great thing about social networking tools is that they allow multiple people to update the same thing. Facebook is a great example. You can assign several administrators to share the task of updating your presence on Facebook, so this extra task is shared among as many people as you want. There are also tools to help you integrate your social networking tasks into your other online efforts.
